Natural, sustainable, efficient - In the past 20 years, agromed has developed from a start-up in Kremsmünster, Upper Austria, into an international market leader in lignocellulose-based animal feed additives.
More than 100 international partners from South America, Europe and Asia accepted the invitation to an anniversary celebration in Salzburg to look back on the successful company history and set the course for an equally promising future.
Under the motto "Let's think outside the box", the anniversary kicked off with an informative seminar on the challenges facing the industry. True to the motto of the event, another wood fiber expert from Upper Austria, Lenzing AG, cast a glance over the horizon and into the future.
Afterwards, the varied program of city tours in Salzburg extended from a gala evening in the Episcopal Residence to a visit to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier and a hut evening for a hearty ending. The guests not only got to know agromed even better, but also Austria in all its wonderful facets.
The motto of the 20th anniversary "Let's think outside the box" accompanies the company from the beginning. Using wood as a feed ingredient was almost ridiculed at the time of foundation. Two decades later, agromed's mission and lived-in vision has almost become a trend: sustainability.
With its innovative products, animal nutrition expert agromed responds to the high demand for sustainable, high-quality animal and environmentally friendly food additives, thus creating a natural alternative to classic performance enhancers such as antibiotics.
The core competence of agromed lies in products made of lignocellulose, a natural active ingredient from the renewable raw material wood, which animals need, among other things, for a healthy intestine. Using special processes, the natural fibers are extracted from untreated fresh wood sourced from sustainably managed forests in Europe. Agromed processes different components of tree trunks and combines them in different ways. The result is standardized, efficiency-enhancing and high-quality products. Depending on the tree species and its composition, its effects range from the development of a positive intestinal flora to the promotion of natural growth through to the support of the immune system. The well-being of the animal as well as its basic nutritional needs are always top priority.
As a role model, the company itself uses nature with its proven mechanisms of action, which of course are tailored to the actual physiological basic needs of the animals - "feed solutions with natural effects".
"We use nature's processes as a model to ensure the quality of food and the health of the animals in a natural way and to fill nutritional gaps. Being true to the needs of the animals means being able to fully exploit their potential, "explains Managing Director Helmut Grabherr.
The in-house research department works closely with experts in the animal feed industry and agriculture, scientists from respected international universities and, above all, customers in the further development and production of its products. This allows agromed to react quickly to current needs and develop optimal, tailor-made solutions. In doing so, the company is oriented towards an efficient, user-oriented and, above all, sustainable food chain. The company keeps an eye on all areas, from agricultural production and various industrial processing and production stages to the needs of end users and consumers. In doing so, agromed takes into consideration not only animals, but also humans and the environment.
"We are convinced that the three dimensions of sustainability - economics, ecology and social issues - combined with a responsible use of raw materials and their processing, must be the focus of our actions," says Dr. Christine Potthast (R & D). "With our high-quality, sustainable and efficient products, we take social responsibility - especially with regard to challenges such as scarce resources with a growing population and an increasing demand for high-quality food."
