Dr. Eckel headquater in Germany
Agricultural and animal health expert Guido Grassi (46) has taken over the position of Chief Operations Officer at Dr. Eckel Animal Nutrition GmbH & Co. KG
with immediate effect.
Born in Argentina, Grassi holds a degree in agricultural science and an MBA and has many years of management experience in agricultural companies of various sizes and orientations.
Prior to his position at Dr. Eckel, he worked with global teams on projects in Asia-Pacific, Africa, Latin America, Europe and the USA. Most recently, he served as Country Head Thailand for Bayer and Aqua Commercial Head for Asia Pacific at Elanco.
"We asked Guido Grassi to join Dr. Eckel's management team and to our great pleasure he has accepted the offer," Dr. Antje Eckel, Founder and Managing Director of Dr. Eckel Animal Nutrition, announced this exciting new addition with obvious pleasure.
Since its foundation in 1994, the German manufacturer of innovative feed additives for farm animals and aquaculture has developed from a start-up to an international hidden champion. With innovative, sustainable solutions for animal nutrition that combine profitability and animal welfare, the company has made a name for itself as a pioneer in the industry during this time.
When asked about the choice of Guido Grassi, Antje Eckel explained: "He knows the world from Asia to America, he knows business from start-ups to multinationals, he knows agriculture from producer to consumer. Guido Grassi is an experienced leader, hands-on, creative, with an eye for innovation. He lives an open leadership culture and enjoys working with diverse teams. His pursuit of excellence and drive to break new ground to achieve the best for customers, today, tomorrow and in the future, is exactly how we have always worked at Dr Eckel. On top of that, he is also a smart, straightforward and immensely likeable person who will be a wonderful addition to our team."
Since its foundation, Dr. Eckel has been committed to improving animal welfare and contributing to sustainable nutrition in the world with its products. On a steady growth course, the family-owned company is already setting the course for the coming generational change in company management. Against this background, the decision to expand the management team to include the position of COO and to separate the operational business from long-term strategic planning is the next logical step. In this way, the company wants to continue to be successful in the future with product solutions that are the decisive step ahead and sustainably strengthen the entrepreneurial success of its customers.
Guido Grassi will enrich the company with new ideas thanks to his profound knowledge of the Asian market and his experience in this field. The stronger division of tasks within the management team will also free up important resources for the preparation of a successful generation change. This will further strengthen and consolidate the long-term strategy of the animal welfare pioneer - not only at product level, but also with regard to go-to-market strategies, digitalisation and the general operational business. At the same time, continuous improvements in daily processes and procedures can be implemented. Because Dr. Eckel is and remains a trustworthy, solid partner and valuable source of inspiration for its customers.
In his new position, Guido Grassi will work from the German headquarters in Niederzissen, where the production and the majority of the company's employees are located. In addition to the headquarters in Germany, Dr. Eckel has a subsidiary in Bangkok (Dr. Eckel Animal Nutrition Thailand Co., Ltd.) as well as a number of employees in various regional locations. "At Dr. Eckel, I will be able to interact with different divisions and regions and work with an excellent team to develop the best products for a better future," says Guido Grassi, looking forward to his new role. "Pioneering, thinking globally and discovering new horizons and opportunities - that's what drives me most in my daily work."
Guido Grassi has previously lived in Argentina, Australia and Thailand. He is married and has three sons with his wife Maria, Benjamin (16), Felipe (14) and Matias (12). The entire Dr. Eckel team warmly welcomes Guido Grassi and looks forward to good cooperation and exciting new tasks.
