EuroTier shows prospects for livestock farmers
"With 2,597 exhibitors and 155,000 visitors, including 46,500 from abroad, the EuroTier 2018 shows its importance as the world's leading trade fair for animal husbandry", told Reinhard Grandke, CEO of DLG (German Agricultural Society), at the conclusion of EuroTier on November 16, 2018 in Hannover.
He drew the following conclusion:
EuroTier is the leading international platform for innovations and strategies for livestock farming. 2,597 exhibitors from 62 countries presented their innovations and concepts for agricultural practice worldwide. Digital solutions with electronics, control and regulation technology, data management and innovations in the areas of stable construction, feeding and husbandry and breeding set new impulses for efficiency and animal welfare.
155,000 visitors came from over 130 countries. This makes EuroTier the leading international trade fair for Germany, Europe and beyond. Around 30 percent of the visitors came from abroad, most of them from the Netherlands, China, Russia, Poland, Italy, Spain, Austria, Ukraine, France, Turkey, Belgium and Denmark. The proportion of visitors outside Europe has increased significantly. Both from North and South America as well as from the Near and Far East came far more visitors than before.
The German farmers, especially from the strong-livestock regions, are ready to invest. For them, the EuroTier is the central meeting point for investment planning. For this they need clear political decisions that provide them with reliable framework conditions for future investments.
The visitors came from all areas of professional animal production. This is also reflected in the interest of livestock farmers: for example, 65 percent of the visitors were interested in the species bovine, 39 percent for pigs and 32 percent for poultry.
The special theme of the EuroTier 2018, "Digital Animal Farming" attracted the attention of visitors through practical demonstrations. Many digital solutions improve the management, ensure the health of the animals and enable transparency along the entire value chain.
The offer for food and animal health with around 750 exhibitors aroused special interest this year. The drought situation in many European countries causes farmers to search for supraregional feed sources for alternative feed mixtures.
The next EuroTier, including EnergyDecentral in Germany, will take place from 17 to 20 November 2020 in Hannover.
