The International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF) has a new chairman. Ruud Tijssens, Group Director Public & Cooperative Affairs, Royal Agrifirm Group, was elected by delegates at the 34th General Assembly as the new IFIF chairman for 2022-2023.

Tijssens succeeds Dr. Daniel Bercovici, who has led the association for the past four years. Tijssens has held several leadership positions within IFIF, including chair of the IFIF Sustainability Steering Group and member of the IFIF Executive Committee and IFIF Board of Directors.  He has more than thirty years of diverse leadership experience in the agri-food sector, with a focus on innovation, research and development, management and governance processes, and will bring his extensive experience with both IFIF and international feed industry affairs to the role of IFIF Chair.

In accepting his two-year term as chair, Tijssens emphasized, "Through IFIF's efforts and partnerships, we continue our clear focus on IFIF's three strategic pillars, including (1) regulation to promote a balanced regulatory framework and support the dynamic pace of innovation, (2) sustainability with science-based standards to help measure and manage the footprint of the feed and livestock sector, and (3) education and best practices. We will continue to advance key initiatives, including IFIF's work on nutrition innovation, capacity building for feed safety programs, and the IFIF FAO International Feed Regulators Meeting (IFRM) series."

In addition, delegates appointed Dr. Bruno Kaesler, CEO of Kaesler Nutrition, as the new IFIF Treasurer and elected representatives and organizations to the IFIF Board of Directors for the 2022-2023 term.
