Robert Römer will join Dr Alexander Hinrichs as the new Executive Director of the Initiative Tierwohl (ITW). The 45-year-old will be responsible for the areas of clearing processes, criteria development and finances of the ITW from May 2021. Hinrichs will take over the management of QS Qualität und Sicherheit GmbH from May 2021 and will also continue to be responsible for the strategic development of the ITW as well as communication.

"Animal welfare is one of the big topics in the industry and an extremely exciting challenge. The ITW has played a key role here for years," explains Robert Römer, who has been part of the coordination team of the Animal Welfare Initiative since 2012. "I am very much looking forward to the new task."

Römer spent 18 years in various positions at QS Qualität und Sicherheit GmbH, most recently as Head of Meat and Meat Products and Food Retail. Since 2020, Robert Römer has already been working as an authorised signatory for the Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Tierwohls in der Nutztierhaltung mbH, which is the sponsor of ITW.

"With Robert Römer, a long-standing companion and driver moves up to the management board," explains Hinrichs. "QS has been the basis for the ITW from the very beginning and both programmes complement each other perfectly. I look forward to Mr Römer bringing his expertise from both programmes to the ITW management."
