The Rothkötter company said goodbye to Managing Director Wilfried Fleming in retirement. For 37 years, Fleming left his mark on Rothkötter and continuously developed the company.

In 1984, Wilfried Fleming was employed as an agricultural engineer at the Rothkötter compound feed plant in Meppen. What followed was a success story for the company. In 1997, he became managing director and since then, in close cooperation with founder Franz Rothkötter and managing director Franz-Josef Rothkötter, he made the decisions that helped the company grow to its current size, the statement continues. At the farewell ceremony in a festive setting, Franz-Josef Rothkötter emphasized that Fleming shaped the company like no other. When Fleming joined the company, Rothkötter was celebrating his 25th anniversary, there were just over 20 employees in the company and the company had a turnover of around DM 25 million. The compound feed plant had just moved to its current location in Meppen-Versen and was producing 45,000 tons of compound feed a year.

Today, Rothkötter has six production sites. Three compound feed plants in Meppen, Haren and Boizenburg/Elbe produce more than 1 million t of compound feed for pigs and poultry. Since 2003, Rothkötter has been producing fresh poultry in Haren near Emsland, including fresh chicken itself for the food retail trade, among others, and since 2011 has also been producing fresh poultry in Wietze near Celle Land. The Emsland hatchery has also been located in Dohren since 2003. Rothkötter now has 4,500 employees and the group made nearly EUR 1.5 billion in sales in calendar year 2021.
Focus on the entire value chain
The Rothkötter group of companies was founded in 1959 as a feed trading company. Today, the group employs more than 4,500 people at six production sites in northern Germany and generates sales of approximately 1.5 billion euros. The Rothkötter Group includes, among others, the three Rothkötter compound feed plants in Meppen, Haren and Boizenburg, the Emsland hatchery in Dohren and the two chicken processing plants Emsland Frischgeflügel in Haren and Celler Land Frischgeflügel in Wietze. The sales company Landgeflügel is responsible for the distribution and logistics of fresh and frozen chicken meat products. The Rothkötter group of companies is committed to the values of quality, responsibility and efficiency and takes care of the entire value chain from the breeding and keeping of the parent animals to the hatchery, the broilers and the composition of the feed.

Franz-Josef Rothkötter showed how closely the corporate history of Rothkötter was linked to Wilfried Fleming's professional career. Another speech was given by Dr. Friedrich-Otto Ripke, President of the Central Association of the German Poultry Industry, who emphasized Fleming's importance for the poultry industry. Stefan Teepker, chairman of the Rothkötter fattener association, then spoke about how Fleming has always been a strong advocate for fatteners.

Fleming expressed his gratitude for the positive words and thanked his companions for the good cooperation. He emphasized how much he was pleased by the laudations. In his speech of thanks, he also referred to Franz Rothkötter, the founder of Rothkötter, who passed away in 2019. Rothkötter had placed a great deal of trust in him, he said, and his life motto "If you want to create, you have to be cheerful" had also influenced him.
