Last October, the Intestinal Health Scientific Interest Group symposium (IHSIG) was organized in Bangkok.
Necrotic enteritis in the poultry industry was one of the subject presented to the Asian audience. Nutrition and more particularly mineral nutrition contribute to face this issue. Two communications presented the effects of dietary zinc in broilers challenged with Clostridium perfringens. One severe challenge was studied by Southern Poultry Research Inc. (SPR) and one mild challenge was carried out in Thailand. It was shown that mortality and performance losses due to NE, were mitigated when feeds were supplemented HiZox®, a potentiated source of zinc oxide from Animine. In January, SPR study was presented to the American audience at the International Poultry Scientific Forum in Atlanta, during the International Production and Processing Exposition.
